The Boronia Tea Room (formerly Boronia House) was originally built as residences for John and James Kearey in 1885. Mosman Council bought Boronia House in 1952 and it was modified to accommodate Mosman Municipal Library. In 1978 Boronia House was used as offices as well as an art gallery.

The historic home, built in 1885, is owned by Mosman Council which agreed to terminate the lease five years early, after agreeing the hospitality business was "no longer viable".
